Bat House Placement & Installation Guidelines |
Location, Location, Location —- Placement and installation of your bat house are almost more important than bat house design. Please don’t waste your money & time making sure you have a great bat house only to have it installed in a suboptimal manner that may never attract bats . Or worse — the bat house just sits in the garage. Basically, from the bats point of view, a bat house should be warm, dry, easy to enter & leave (no clutter) & safe from predators. Please follow the guidelines / suggestions below or contact us for installation options designed to maximize your occupancy rate. |

General Guidelines For All Bat Houses: |
· mounted on a pole or the side of a structure · the bottom of the bat house should be a least 15 ft. above the ground · an open sunny area with no obstructions or clutter — with at least 6 or more hours of direct sunlight / day · face a southerly direction. When two houses are mounted back to back, a SE — NW orientation is best |

Things To Avoid: |
· DO NOT mount your bat house on the trunk of a tree however, bat houses can be hung from the limb of a large shade tree, if no open areas are available · Avoid orienting a lone bat house directly North — it will remain too cool · Don’t install the house in a shady wooded area. Please trim any tree limbs that grow close to or shade the bat house |
